The Burmese Cat
The Burmese cat is a social, playful, stubborn, intelligent, cuddly and just plain wonderful cat :-)
You will never be lonely if you have Burmese cats in your home… they will sleep in your bed at night (preferably under your cover), they will sit with you in the couch and they will gladly help writing email and surf around the Internet :-D
Some Burmese cats will ”talk” to their humans, while others are less talkative, but when they want someting… you will know.
The Burmese cat is intelligent and needs stimulation. Challenge your cat and it will learn new games quickly (and gladly). Climbingposts, sleeping-places located high up and new toys are always appreciated… and the Burmese loves to play fetch, just like a dog.
The Burmese is a very social cat and should not be left alone. If you get two Burmese cats it does not mean you will get less attention… you will get twice as much. And for the cats it’s best to have a friend for those boring days when you are not at home. Other animals like dogs have also proven to get along great with the Burmese cat.
Those who meet a Burmese cat for the first time is stunned by the softness of their shiny coat… it’s like silk and has no parallell to any other breed! They shed very little and many people allergic to cats has proven to tolerate them due to this. The coat is completely free of maintenance. We don’t even bathe or brush our cats for shows, it’s not necessary… the coat is just shiny silk!
The Burmese cat is a medium size cat, but it is muscular and should weigh a lot more than it appears to do.
If you see a Burmese who looks a bit grumpy or ”dangerous”, well, then you have met a Burmese with just the right look. The shape of the eye should be rounded at the bottom with a straight upper line.
Your Burmese will love to go outside when the weather is nice and warm. Build an enclosure where they can go in and out as they like, or teach your cat to walk with a leash. The Burmese cat is an indoor cat and can not be left outdoors without supervision. It might work for years ’til one day when the cat gets off too far from home and can’t find its way back. Also their fur is not suitable for beeing outdoors.
